Sony Ericsson Xperia Play to launch on Verizon?

Sony-Ericsson-Xperia-Play-to-launch-on-Verizon.jpg

Sony Ericsson will be introducing the Xperia Play on February 13th. That, of course, is the day before the start of the MWC in Barcelona. From the beginning when the device was a mere concept, to today's pictures showing a side sliding game controller, video game players have been over eager to get this device in their hands. Wirefly says that it is coming to Verizon...

Xperia Play is no slouch when it comes to specs:

  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread installed right out of the box.
  • 4 inch LCD display weighs in with resolution at 480 x 854,
  • Front-facing camera. Of course,
  • Side-sliding game controller that has game players excited.

I tried earlier and it said VZW, but I just tried again and there is nothing on the site about the Xperia. Methinks that wasn't supposed to happen :D

I really really doubt it.

The Verizon rumors started because of the Wirefly MISTAKE, yes mistake ... not leak.

The XPERIA Play is probably going to be a GSM phone for ATT, TMobile, or both.

I don't think I've seen ANY Sony Ericsson phone on Verizon, and I think Verizon might not care much now that they got the iPhone.

Personally, I'm getting the XPeria Play. Been waiting for a phone with a slide out gaming pad for years!

I have a feeling this phone will do really well, with all the highschool and college/20-something gamers, or it will flop.

It's awesome that it's coming to Verizon. Even though Ericsson has pretty much been primarily GSM, I'm sure they realized it would sell better on Verizon.
