Sometimes boots into recovery.

Lol yeah I'd say so, I can promise if you run MIUI it wont boot into recovery, as there is a process to do so

May have to try that one.

Several reboots with no recovery options (outside of choosing them). Looks like I needed the Droid 2 Bootstrap Recovery and then ROM Manager Clockwork Mod Recovery flash (in that order) to stop the booting into Recovery each time.
