Can't get onto recovery

Liberty gb v.5
I cannot get in it no matter how I try.
I tried installing bootstrap from toolbox. Tried pressing power and home and then search.
Tried Droid x bootstrap
Tried (but cannot install...failed to parse apk error) Droid 2 bootstrap
Tried reboot bootstrap and reboot recovery in liberty toolbox.

Most.times when I restart I have to battery pull because I get hung between boot logo and boot animation.

Any guidance?
