Tons of subaru owners on here (as evidenced by the 'cars' thread).

Currently hvae a 02 wrx I'm toying around with. Long term plans over the next year are to drop a full STi Drivetrain, with either a full 2.5 block or a hybird 2.5, larger turbo, all the good stuff.

Had an STi previously too, lots of fun, if you have a think internet skin, you should join up at nasioc, perhaps if you are easily offended, clubwrx would be better for you if you haven't already.

That sounds like its going to be pretty sick, are you building it for Auto-x, rally, drag or just because?

I am on Nasioc, i haven't posted yet but not because of the attitude there just because its blocked at work.

Well, basically, long story not as long, I got married last year, we recently bought a house, and I didn't want the payment of the STi + insurance. I'm saving a LOT of money, found a really cheap WRX. Wasn't planning on buying a car for a while, but this offer came along.

I'm not building it for any one thing (ESPECIALLY not auto-x, too many rules, you build a car for that, it limits how much fun you can hvae when you aren't auto-x (99.5% of the time) why build a car for a very limited use?) I do enjoy auto-x, might even take my DD out this season. Once I'm done, I would like to run it at the local road course (Welcome to BeaveRun MotorSports Complex) But this car is not being modded with the thoughts of any 'class' or restrictions on it.

I had thought about doing a few other cars (mustang, vette, nissans) but the Subaru platform is so versitile, speed, handling, AWD plus I'm familiar with the EJ's more the any other engine (which isn't saying a lot) but at least I have a good understanding of what's going on.

Just want a good balanced car, around 400 HP, that will hold a corner.

I am still waiting on a quote from the nearest 3m installer, last guy quoted me something like $700 installed :icon_eek:

The Rally Armor flaps for sure, i love the look as well as the protection.
I paid just over $800 for my VentureShield clear bra, which has advantages over the 3M product. In the end, would you rather pay $800 now and keep your paint pristine, or $800 later to have it repainted?

My two RSXs looked like they'd been through a battlefield by the time I was done with them and I only owned each for about 2 years.

The rocks that have managed to make contact with my paint have gone through to the bare metal, so I can only imagine what it would have looked like without the protection.

The 08+ models paint seems to be harder, so rocks chip/break the paint much easier than previous models. There have been lots of complaints of rock salt even tearing up the paint directly behind the wheels.

I put the bra on within 1000 miles. RA flaps within my first oil change.
