is there any kind of tweaking at all, that will let a Motorola Droid...work out of the United States? My friend seems to think that it can happen and a person he knows in Switzerland has one? I know this has been asked before, but I can't seem to search for the correct answer. Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure the answer is no. The Droid hardware is built for CDMA networks, and most networks outside the US use GSM. There is a GSM version of the Droid, called the Milestone, but it's communication guts are different.

I'm pretty sure it doesnt have SIM capacity either....
