Does the app to get text messages forwarded to a different phone work if u don't have the phone u want to receive the messages from? Or do u need to download the app on both phones. This app is kinda scary wouldn't want my girl able to read all my messages

Hi - I think you are looking to forward SMS from one phone to another location (phone or email)? PhoneLeash (www.tinyurl.com/phoneleashfree) can do this - forward SMS from 1 phone to another email address . Incoming SMS on the original phone will still be visible though - this is not a secret forwarder.
