slow running nexus

And you said I can download all that on to my phone, in order to root?

You should be able to, but I never tried. Just once you're done downloading transfer them to your pc and then you're good to root.

Go to the dev section of the forum. Or try a search.

I tried downloading the tool kit for root. And it just keeps failing

Any messages as to why it's failed? Like I said I never tried downloading anything like that with my phone, but maybe the phone can't download .exe files.

It does a complete download and says successful, then it says failed... so Idk it weird

Dude... Before you do something that it sounds like you are not prepared for..... DO A FACTORY DATA RESET.

To do a factory data reset you don't have to figure anything out or download anything. All you have to do is push a button and follow some simple instructions. It is very easy to do and it should resolve the issues you were speaking of earlier. After you have your phone working properly you can then plan out your attack on unlocking your bootloader, rooting, and flashing roms.

Do a FACTORY DATA RESET

This is seriously starting to remind me of another poster from a couple months ago who's Nexus was perfectly fine, but insisted that something was wrong with it.....

But yes Monster, try a factory reset first. Even if you root you're going to have to factory reset anyway, so might as well try that method first.

I downloaded the root tool kit to my phone now I transfer it to my PC? And is that all I need to root?

I can't reset it.. I don't want to lose all my stuff that is in it, I know j can transfer pix.. but other stuff

As I've said, just transfer the toolkit to your pc.

You can backup your SMS with SMSbackup+ if that's a concern. All your apps are tied to your Google account, you'll just have to redownload them. However, all your settings will be resetted as you'll be unlocking and factory resetting the ROM.

Again, as we mentioned, you'll have to factory reset if you want to root.
