Anyone know how to do this? I've been fiddling with my phone for about a half hour and I still can't find it.
It was previously on the screen where you'd hold down the power button but after the new update, it's gone. I liked sleep mode, it was super convienent when my phone was about to die and I wanted to keep it from turning off and whatnot.

Any info is appreciated.

hmm. I never used that.

I just use Smart Actions instead - ESPECIALLY when dealing with a low battery. Those smart actions can really extend battery life so that the low battery realm (mine is set to 18% is when it shuts everything off in order to preserve basic life of phone connectivity only, until it gets on a charger)

.

I uses sleep mode all the time as well.

Sleep Mode was quite efficient in prolonging battery life.
I hate to see it removed for no reason.
Why would they take a perfectly good feature which many used frequently and removed it?
no to mention they removed a few other great features. its like they took a step backwards.
I want to downgrade my phone to the previous version now. this is ridiculous.

You could use the Smart Actions to setup a sleep mode....that way you don't have to manually do it all the time?

Give airplane mode a shot. You would be surprised how well it works with saving battery.

That's why I use the smart actions.

If screen=off, charging?=no, movement=no.... then no GPS, 4G, or background data. Works great for battery life.

And I don't have to select anything.

I just either set the phone down, or turn off the screen and set it down. I pick it up every now and again, and grab my emails and such. When I'm on WiFi, the emails will roll in and I can see the little pink light blink so I know when to check it (if I care).

Airplane mode would extend the battery even more, that's for sure. But you wouldn't get text messages or phone calls.... since that's really what I pay for, and what would be used for emergencies, I'd rather always have that on and let the data be more sporadic.

However, I couldn't answer why sleep mode went away. I was really ticked off how they made the stock alarm clock app horrible with ICS. If I could get the GB version back, it'd be great...

I would really love to get Sleep back, but I never thought of using SmartActions that way. I just set mine now. Usually I'd get peeved with my previous SmartActions settings (like when I'm lost and it decides to be a good time to turn off GPS and **** with me) and I just avoided the utility all together. Perhaps I'll just have to get over it for the sake of emergency battery life. I typically also turn off my data all day because I'm around computers or wifi a good bit of the day at school and it has saved me heartache at the end of the month.

It seems like every time I forget my phone somewhere (I lament over my last RAZR, which was stolen at a bar) my battery is tapped or it was on sleep and I couldn't wake it up remotely. I'd be so willing to work on engineering a case for the device with an emergency battery or something to avoid this kind of fiasco again. At the same time, new Droids are being kicked out so quickly, it would have to adapt to a range of phones or something...
But that's just a pipe dream.

Smart actions always crashed when i tried to change settings.
I recently found an app that does the same thing and more.

That case idea sounds good i was going to attempt something similar for a wireless mouse with a rayovac emergency charger but it had broke before i got the chance. (those chargers are cheaply made)
I attempted to solder the plug that fell off for the charging spot, but the leds were too small.
it didn't work well with my cell phone though not sure why as it about fully charged my psp.. lol sorry got a little off topic.

anyway do you have any experience working with soldering irons and electronics? i Can give tips unless you know some one who can help if you don't.
if you would decide to make the case of course.

pornado if you use WiFi most of the day, and use SmartActions (or whatever app) to extend the battery life, you'd be amazed how long the regular RAZR battery goes. 4G, constant sync, and screen time are the battery killers (obviously talking on the phone does too). Set the mobile network to CDMA/LTE and not Global also.

The beauty of smart actions or an app that does similar things is, you don't have to manually select "battery-extender mode".... it's automatic.

You should still have Assist on your phone. Has a great sleeping mode that I love. Give it a try.
