Signal Bar Indicator

This is no doubt a simple answer. What does the color change in the signal bar mean? Sometimes it will say 4G LTE in blue or some such, then sometimes it will be white. I am just curious about what the two colors signify.

The blue means that you have data syncing enabled. Its white when you don't.

The blue means you have connection with the google servers, you have voice and data, white means you have voice and data but you are not connected to the google servers. If you don't see a blue or white 3g or 4g that means you don't have data. A gray colored bars means you are not connected to a verizon tower...your phone "sees" the signal, but you are not logged into a tower yet.
