For whatever reason my phone has not recieved the update yet. Should I track it down or just leave 2.1 and wait til things get better or go for it? Thanks

Stay with 2.1. I'm not planning to update til I get the update notification, everything work s fine for me on 2.1 so I have no need to update yet.

To the contrary, I see no obvious improvements in Froyo whatsoever with regard to daily operation of the phone. AAMOF, I've more small glitches since updating a week old phone then I did the week it was running 2.1.

Nothing major, but I thought I was through with daily battery pulls when I left a Storm1.

Kinda reminds me of Windows 3.1 ... I'm considering a factory reset to see if that helps.

YMMV ....

IMO,if you are happy with the phone now,and do not NEED adobe flash for anything,do not update! The 2.2 has many glitches in it,my phone as well as most others I know now have issues with the music player if you use it,and the overall operation of the phone, mine has slowed down,it isnt as responsive, the gallery takes forever to load pictures. The way I see it is you have probably tha last of the 2.1 versions,so 99% of the bugs were worked out,and it operates pretty good, although the 2.2 is an upgrade,it isnt as refined or tested, which is very apparent once you download it....I personally do not wish to go back to 2.1,even with the glitches,as long as the phone still operates,i like the flash player, and the battery life seems to be improved a little, which is just what the phone needed...

I don't have ANY issues with the OTA Froyo update. I'm sorry for those not having a good experience. I do LOVE having Flash, too.

2.2 is great...my phone is faster and there are many improvements. I don't think that many people with 2.2 have problems.

The vast majority of people are not having issues with 2.2. I recomend you upgrade. I've had a much faster, smoother experiance with 2.2. The battery life is much much better as well, not to mention flash which I love. This device is meant for flash take advantage of it.

Honestly my first impression with 2.2 was great until I had time to fully use my phone. After a few days I wish I was on 2.1 still.

The speed increase is non-existent, the phone is just as fast on 2.1. (which is really fast)

The SMS sort list/time stamp issue is annoying but not a huge problem

Music Player is broken. Cant switch orientation without needing a battery pull. Music doesn't load sometimes.

Screen Orientation is off, sensor has erratic behavior even after calibrating numerous times (worked fine on 2.1)

Ive tried every fix for all of these issues. Fac resets, battery pulls, cleard cache, deodexed, removed bloat, etc. etc.

Still exist. Its a ****ty OTA with alot of random bugs. I rolled back to 2.1 from the 2.2 Leak because of bugs, and tbh, the leak had less issues.

I wish I had stayed with 2.1. With all this Froyo hype, I got really excited and installed the OTA. After it got done downloading, my phone froze. The speed is the same or worse. Its pretty glitchy. Flash is nice, but I almost think its a high price to pay for it.

the 2.2 update

consider me dumb for asking this. Is the 2.2 update called froyo or is that a market thing after the update? Also, I installed flash from the market after the update. Should I be able to hit open on the flash icon?

Android 2.2 is called Froyo. Android 2.1 is called Eclair.
