settings application gone after 2.2 update

Ever since the latest droid system update I have been unable to open my settings menu. When I hit the menu button from the home screen settings comes up as an option, but pressing it does nothing. What's even more strange is that when I open the applications screen, with that handy new button, the settings application doesn't show up as an option. Did it somehow get uninstalled? Am I going to have to hard reset to fix this?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I'm having the same problem. There is no possible way to access the settings menu, when you try to from the home screen, it won't come up, and in the apps menu, it's not there anymore.

Also, my phone is unable to go into silent mode...

How do I fix this? If a hard reset is necessary, how do you do it and does it erase contacts/pictures, etc?

that is weird. does a battery pull do anything?

well silent mode can be enabled in settings (instead of vibrate) but seeing as you cant get in there, there might be a 1x1 widget you can download to enable it

also, a wipe will not touch pictures (bc they should be on your sd card) and make sure your contacts are backed up in your gmail account.

also, to both of you, did you get the second 2.2 update?

I believe it was the second 2.2 update. it was the one that added to two new home screens and changed the buttons on the bottom. a battery pull didn't do anything for me.

The only other thing that I did recently with the phone besides the system update was install a free stopwatch app.

it really does seem like the settings application was just uninstalled, which seems impossible unless I got some malicious software or something.
