Searching before posting

I concur in some of these postings that there is duplication as well as new postings on the same subject posted else where. Recommend members use the SEARCH tools provided by these FORUMS before posting. Just a thought.

Yeah, to many people starting threads just to start threads also.

Furthering the development and use ...

Thanks. As a former educator IT and administrator, I look for any means to benefit the whole and not for self gratification. There are many smartphones in the market, and the i mprovement of oone for a longer time benefits users immensly with costs being what they are. The best, most efficient, user-friendly, easily accessible apps, easier downloads - push loads, etc.

Your welcome, but my comment was a general statement, not a judgement about you.

are you on theturboforums? LOL.
you are correct tho. lots of questions could be answered by the search button

Not always the case. Search yields only what the search keywords relate to. The big problem with searches is unless you know all the potential ways someone might name a thread or how they might describe it to exhaust all possibilities before you post, and unless the thread that you are about to post a duplicate of has tags that relate to the subject, you can easily come up empty in searches. I consider myself a fairly good searcher and yet I've come up empty on many occasions only to find someone else has already asked or answered the same, but used different verbiage. To blame anyone of posting for the sake of posting is to assume they've not done the search to begin with - a presumption that is weak.

No one search engine is perfect, and there is no one right way to search, so I believe many posts - if they seem like duplication of effort, are simply the result of being unable to find the answer in a search.

Guys, you do know there's already a thread about this. Right?

Just kidding, couldn't help myself.

I don't see the problem with duplicate threads or questions in most cases.

This site moves posts down quick. Sometimes a new thread is the only way to get new eyes on it.

Plus, o don't mind newbs asking questions thy were answered in an earlier post. If you think they r dumb and don't want to help you can ignore it. If you want to help you can. If you recognize the duplicate question you can link to the original thread.

I like this forum being a place where people are not nuts about rules and new users are not intimidated.

I also like how lately I haven't been using the site often but every now and again when I need some info I can just ask even though I know it was prob answered somewhere else.

Lets stay relaxed here and not stress too hard about people not searching and stuff.
