sdcard-ext starts giving 'read only' errors until reboot

A few weeks ago I had a problem saving anything to the external SD card or renaming/deleting anything on it. All attempts resulted in error messages saying it's a read-only file system. After a reboot, the problem went away.

I didn't notice it again until the past couple of days. Now it seems to be happening more frequently.

It's a hassle to have to wait for the phone to reboot each time I need to fix this, so I'm looking for either a permanent fix or a way to quickly remount sdcard-ext. (removing and reinserting the physical card itself is also too much hassle because I would have to remove my otterbox case, and if you have one of those you know it's not easy to remove).

Any ideas?

Backup all if your SD card files and then reformat your SD card. That's your best bet. If that fails, I would probably consider another SD card. But I bet a reformat will do the trick. Had this issue with my bionic.

I should've asked first... are you rooted or stock??
My suggestion worked for my stock at the time bionic

+1 on this, but make sure the formatting of the card is done by the PHONE, NOT the PC!

I am rooted, and reformatting sounds like a perfectly reasonable solution. Also, yes I know to reformat with the phone.

Thanks.

I just have to make absolutely sure that I'm reformatting SDCARD-EXT and not SDCARD.
