screen turns on after texting

I hate it when my display goes on after I text. I want to turn that off. I did some reading and apparently there's no way to leave the display off unless you download another messaging client?

Go into settings, screen display and then set the mins you want it to screen out. Sorry if that's wrong I'm new to it also..

That's something else. That's how long it takes before the screen goes dark with no use.

When I get a text message, my phone immediately turns on the display. I don't want that. I want my screen to stay dark and just ring.

But apparently I can't turn it off with the stock messaging client?

The stock one. I like it a lot. Looks clean.
