Screen not staying on.

So I am posting this to see what resolutions other people have come too. But recently just in the past couple of days my Droid has been having issues with the time setting for Screen Timeout. I set it to 15, 30, Never etc and it stays like that but shortly after that it changes to being around 5 seconds before the screen times out. I then go back into my settings and sure enough there is nothing chosen for screen timeout and I have to reset to what I want.

Right now I am testing out, and it seems to be working, I had the "advanced task killer" app but have uninstalled it and turned my Droid on and off. That has so far worked but it has only been an hour or so since doing that.

Has anyone else had this issues and resolved it somehow?

Just yesterday this started happening to me. I had my screen set to never time out. I use the on/off button manually. I'm using quick profiles and wondering if an update caused this to happen. I had screen timeout set in QP to "no change," but have since set the profiles to "never timeout." I'm hoping that will work.

Me Too . seems to uncheck my preference and there is none. In another thread someone blames this on an app. How do you determine if this is the case?

I narrowed my instance of this down to ScreenModeWidget. It sets the screen to 30 seconds IIRC. I just took my best guess at which app or widget it was, ran it, and looked at my screen timeout settings.

well my theory of the task killer is not correct i haven't had that app for a few days and have still periodically had my screen timeout get completely taken off.

Don't think it's an "issue". Since the upgrade, both my and my wife's Droids screens time-out in five seconds if we don't unlock them by drawing the screen pattern. If we do draw the pattern and unlock the screen, we get the pre-set screen timeout. I think the change is targeted at better battery life.
