scrambled outgoing e-mail messages

I have sync'd my VDroid with my earthlink account. Incoming mail is fine. Outgoing mail is sometimes ok, sometimes it's just codejunk. I suspect I just don't know what I'm doing, so "Pat, I'd like to buy a clue". What should I be doing differently?

This was happening to me. I stopped using the native email client and downloaded K9. It's in the market. Haven't had that problem since

It is encoding your emails in base 64 without properly identifying this in the mime type. Most email clients can figure this out, but not all so sometimes people will see jibberish.
