It's the way you're scanning, try slowly moving up and down or back and forth. If you hold it in the same place forever it won't scan.

As an example, open the browser and long press on the url and select Copy to Clipboard. Go back to the scanner, click Share and then the clipboard button. The app then creates and displays the QRcode on the phone. The QRCode can then be scanned by another phone running the scanner.

Turn the resolution down on your monitor, I run high rez on mine and it takes forever to scan QR's if ever, turning down the rez and it pops them off instantly.
