so i bricked my phone... it just gets stuck at the M logo.
my tolling of forums as led me to the understanding that all is not lost however and i just need the sbf file/s which will allow me to get my phone back.

is this correct?
i am new to the android world, do all phone models eventually have their sbf leaked? and what is the time frame like following the release of a new phone till the sbf does get leaked.

i feel like a jerk for ruining my new, very expensive phone within 2 weeks of getting it, and want to be able to sleep tonight knowing soon i will be abl to have it back up and running.

Yes, flashing an sbf will fix your phone. It's almost certain that the sbf will get leaked at some point, but when is anyone's guess. Could be tomorrow, could be months from now.

Why not call *611 and tell them your phone is stuck in a boot loop and have them send a replacement?

is calling 611 and saying my phone is in a boot loop likely to work? will they be able to see that the phone has been messed around with? and try to charge me for a new one?
or are they going to just wipe it clean, and not be able to realize?

I was wondering if Motorola released the .sdf for the Droid and Droid2 and if so how long after launch did they. In either case thinks always have a way of getting out.

My guess is unless they send you to a store, they can't tell over the phone and by the time it arrives at the depot for refurbishing they won't likely care. I would avoid the store unless you know the techs and they are willing to help.

I was at the local Verizon store yesterday because my proximity sensor was clearly not working. I kept having to wake my phone to use the keypad and of course it kept inputting button presses etc. The tech actually told me that screen protectors can cause the proximity sensor to not work. He was serious and so was I when I told him that of all seven of the phones I purchased this year, this is the only one that had the issue and all had screen protectors. He swapped it, but was a tool about customers who root (mine wasn't rooted yet).

Vzw frowns on root users and are looking for people with rooted devices to void their warranty. That is why you should unroot or flash an sbf before taking your droid to vzw for service.

mine was/is rooted... and as far as i understand i cant unroot cause i cant do anything... but am i correct in my understanding that if i call vzw tech support, say my phone is stuck at the moto logo when it turns on and i dont have any idea why, and can they send me a new phone, that by the time i send mine back they wont care any more?

will they be able to tell that i rooted it when they look at it/fix it?

i have no problem lieing to a billion dollar multi national corp, but i just dont want them to retroactively charge me for the unsubsidised price for a replacement phone.

You just rooted, or did you root and install the bootstrap recovery app.

nope, didnt know about that till it was too late... i did make a back up or recovery thing in the bootstrap, but i cant get into the recovery mode, when i hold the X and power button, it just gives my a triangle with a ! and a little droid robot

to get into cw recovery wait until you see the droid eye then take your battery out ant put it back in. It may take 2 or 3 tries but it will get you to cww recovery.

if its stuck at the M you battery could be dead also. Did you try charging your battry in another device because I am not sure if your battery is full. But if you can not get into cw, try this boot into stock recovery (to use the options hit the search button on your physical keyboard). then click reboot (from the recovery menu) see if you get past the M. If that still do not work boot into recovery again and wipe data and cache then reboot.
