I want to caution people about assuming you can sbf back to stock from Gingerbread. I successfully completed the sbf and my phone bricked. There is no explanation on how or why this happened.
Just be aware that things can go wrong. Nothing is guaranteed, things can go wrong.

For what its worth when I was using my DROID 2 I successfully flashed an sbf 10+ times from gingerbread. I prefer using linux though considering sbf flashing is as simple as entering a few terminal commands. Obviously things CAN always go wrong but I feel like rsdlite is what causes the most trouble for people. I haven't heard of anyone bricking their device by flashing with linux but I suppose it could happen.
