Samsung S4 GT I9505 to Verizon will not work

I just purchased a samsung GT-I9505 in Irag and I put my Verizon simms chip in it and when I arrived at San Francisco Airport I turned it on and it would not make any calls or pick up my voice mail.
I was told that this phone was unlocked and work work on any Freq.

Sorry, the I9505 won't work on Verizon since it is a GSM phone and not CDMA. You need the I545 S4 variant.

Adding to that, the sim card for Verizon is basically for the 4G LTE.

It will work on AT&T or T-Mobile.
They are both GSM carriers.
Verizon is CDMA and controls by MEID what devices get access to their network.
AT&T and T-Mobile both run prepaid services and you can get a sim from one of those.
