The Wall Street Journal claims they have inside information on the new Samsung Galaxy S7. If their rumint is accurate, then we have a bevy of interesting details regarding Samsung's next flagship.

Here's a full breakdown (bullet-point style):
  • ClearForce based pressure sensitive display (like Apple's ForceTouch)
  • USB Type-C
  • A microSD Slot
  • Low-light enhanced capable camera (with lens flush with the surface, unlike the module in the Galaxy S6)
  • Thinner Glass on magnesium body
  • Larger 5.2-inch display for the S7 and 5.7-inch for the Plus models
  • Dedicated ESS audio chip
The only other fascinating detail of these rumors is that Samsung will supposedly reveal the Galaxy S7 series in February (possibly the 21st), and that it will fully launch to US retail stores in mid-March. Obviously, any or all of this could end up wrong, but the source is about as credible as they come. We will keep you apprised as more details arise.

Someone needs to create a program where you trade in your micro usb charger for usb-c at a discounted price. Otherwise we will polute the hell out of landfills.

Looks like the S7 has some pretty cool purported features. I just can't bring myself to get into Samsung devices anymore after having the S6 because of how locked down they have had to become due to their increased popularity. Felt like I owned an iPhone, basically.

At least they are listening to the customers, adding back the microSD slot and all.

I think they will. I think they did great with the S5 and rushed or really blew it on the S6. I feel good about them redeeming themselves with the 7.

If this thing has good battery life, I'll definitely at least consider getting it. I've really been enjoying having an extra battery and charging cradle, but as long as I have that removable storage, I should be able to deal. The s6 really is a beautiful piece of hardware.
