The rumor we shared on Monday has been officially confirmed by Samsung. The Galaxy S5 LTE-A Edition was officially unveiled from the company. There's no reason for most of the folks on the planet to have buyer's remorse just yet though. Just as we surmised in our previous report, the beefed up flagship is exclusive to South Korea.

On top of the Advanced LTE modem in the phone (made obvious by the LTE-A in the name), we have a host of advanced features which are enhanced over the "vanilla" Galaxy S5. Here's a breakdown:
  • WQHD (2560×1440) Super AMOLED 5.1-Inch Display with astounding 577ppi
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor - features four 2.5GHz Krait 450 CPU cores and the Adreno 420 GPU (is the only chip to support higher than 150 Mbps network speeds)
  • 3GB of RAM
  • 32GB of internal storage, along with a microSD slot for cards up to 128GB.
The rest of the phone is the same as the regular SGS5, including the IP67 certification. Here's a quote with the color and availability details,

The phone will launch this summer in Charcoal Black, Shimmer White, Electric Blue, Copper Gold, Sweet Pink, and Glam Red color options.

The Galaxy S5 LTE-A will be available later this week (supposedly June 19th) from carrier SK Telecom for 940,500 won (US$919), and will later launch on carriers KT and LG U+.

What do you guys want to bet that Samsung will do a Galaxy S5 refresh internationally sometime toward the end of this year or early next year and offer this device outside of Korea? Verizon and Sprint are slowly rolling out variations of LTE-A in some areas...

$919. is outrageous. There are many countries that have LTE-A networks. I'll bet they see this variant within 2 months.

Will it finally outperform a Moto E in a head-to-head real world app demo?

THAT'S the question.
