Here are a couple of mid-range and/or budget-friendly devices that Samsung unveiled late last night at CES 2015. These two devices weren't too surprising. We didn't expect them to announced anything big, since they typically hold a larger, self-contained press event for any of their flagship devices, like the future Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5.

The devices that did show up at CES 2015 were the Galaxy E5 and Galaxy E7, which are meant as affordable alternatives to the A5 and A7. The E7 is actually pretty robust for its market segment and actually could be considered an "upper mid-range" device. Here are both phones detailed below:

Samsung Galaxy E7 - priced at about $363 (Rs. 23,000) in India.
  • 5.5-inch, 720p Super AMOLED display
  • Quad-core SoC humming at 1.2GHz
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB on-board storage (includes a microSD card)
  • 13MP rear camera
  • 5MP front camera
  • 2,950mAh battery
  • Two SIM card slots
  • TouchWiz UI on top of Android 4.4.4 KitKat (Android 5.0 Lollipop confirmed as coming)
Samsung Galaxy E5 - priced at roughly $305 (Rs. 19,300)in India
  • 5", 720p Super AMOLED display
  • Quad-core chipset running at 1.2GHz
  • 1.5GB of RAM
  • 16 gigs of available storage
  • 8MP rear camera
  • 5MP front camera
  • 2,400mAh battery (includes a microSD slot)
  • Two SIM slots
  • TouchWiz UI on top of Android 4.4.4 KitKat (Android 5.0 Lollipop confirmed as coming)
For now there is no word on if/when these devices will go anywhere except India. We will keep you in the loop if that info changes. The image above is actually both devices. They look identical except for the size, so they are basically the same either way.

Might actually be interested in the E5 for the Mrs. As long as she can play her little candy games and do basic stuff like facebook and etc, she doesn't need MONSTER specs and she wants something small.

Getting hard to find a device with a screen under 5" these days that's still got decent power and storage space.
