s5 sd card

I live my s5 but I hate the fact that my sd card is in it but it says it isnt. What's the trick? Help!

Had the same issue on my S 3 and S 4. Have you formatted the SD card?

No I have my formatted it. How do I do that ? Will that erase what's on it already?
