Running Scripts- Denied - Are you root?

I am trying to run scripts in the terminal emulator and get

permission denied (are you root?)

What am I doing wrong?

For future reference, entering "su" gives you root access. Thus why you got the error asking if you were root.

just guide me how to root ...when i start bin4ry and follow all the steps it says Mountermission denied what to do plzz help me !! reply ASAP!
And when to enter SU ???
