Rooting.

I'm still new to Droid and don't know much about it. I have all the basics down, but what exactly IS rooting? What does it do to the phone? I see many posts about rooting and such and I just want to get the best experience with my phone. thanks!

If you look in the Droid Hacks section and the hackintg help section and maybe even the rescue squad tguides section, almost every section has a sticky talking about what root is. Here is one I found:

Also, don't know if this is the right section to ask, as this is supposed to be for the Motorola A855 Droid 1 phone only.
