Although Moto has already been providing a way to unlock some of these phones, the folks over at XDA worked out a special method that allows owners to get root access without unlocking the phone’s bootloader. One other thing to note is that this method doesn't work if you run the leaked Jelly Bean ROM. It's also a bit more complicated for the RAZR i than the other phones, but if you are undaunted, then this root exploit obviously has its uses.
