ROM Help

1ST time putting a ROM on my DX...Apex...Downloaded it from ROM Manager...it rebooted and when it turned back on it looked like the same thing it was on before...did I do something wrong?

First a few questions:
1. Are you rooted?
2. Have you downloaded and run the Droid X Bootstrap app?
You must complete these steps first to add a custom rom.

Yup...Rooted and have Bootstrapper...Backedup too...Do ROMs change the Theme of ur phone?

No most do not change the theme. Although some will.
Go to settings, about phone. If the rom has been applied it should change some of the settings. At least that's what happened when I installed different roms on my Droid. I have yet to flash a custom rom to my Droid X.

So some Rims just change how ur phones Runs? So u would still need to install a theme too...looked on the settings...can't really tell what's differrent

Also you can look for a few bloatware apps that might have been there before. They will most likely be gone now. Most ROM's take them out.

Most ROM's aren't themed. A few are, example: BB Crackmans Dark Slide.

Here's a pic from my Droid of the settings menue:

Notice that the build number says ChevyNo1 Simply Stunning v4.9. That's the rom I am currently running. Like I said I have no idea if the same thing happens on the droid X since I have not flashed a custom room to it yet.

You can find a theme you like that is compatible with Apex and install it.

Your performance should improve some. Sometime drastically depending on the ROM. Windows open quicker, home pages slide better, stuff like that.

For starters I always keep wifi, bluetooth, and gps off until I need them.
Also Jrummy has an over clock app for the Droid X/2 in the market.
