Replacement Droid tips please!

So, while screaming at the Cetics tonight I dropped my my droid from my knee to the floor. When I picked it up, the screen would not come back on. After several batterie pulls and restarts I realized it was shot (although the keyboard still lit up, and I could fell the vibrations from the screen, it would not light up.

So what do I do about replacements? Saving apps, settings, and more importantly, my daughters pictures?!

Thanks

Apps are associated with your Google account, so as long as you use the same one when you initially setup the phone, you'll be OK. Settings, you might be SOL without the ability to use the screen. Pics are stored on the SD card, pull it out and back it up to your comp. Shouldnt be too much of a challenge. Good luck with the replacement.

HA!
No, third quarter when Doc finally put Allen in the game to defend Wade.

SOL meaning I am going to need buy a new one? Or use my insurance?
I didn't even know I could pull out the SD card..

SOL meaning you'll just need to reconfig manually, as there's no way to backup/restore system settings without a screen. Not a showstopper at all.

The SD card is in the back of the phone, you gotta pull the battery to get to it, but it should have all of your pictures and the like on it.

If you have insurance, then that's your best bet. Just be sure to backup your SD card, so you dont lose anything irreplaceable.

Great. This sucks though, I hope they don't give me a refurbished Droid. I Just got my phone set up how I liked it, and I am not sure if I can remember all of my unpaid apps...

My days of going Naked may be over

me too.. kind of

Same thing happened to me once, but it was a laptop. The screen would always stay white. I took it apart, reconnected the screen connections, still nothing. I replaced the entire lcd and that took care of it. So its hard to say what's wrong here.

It sucks, but it's not really a huge deal. The refurb phones are just as good, functionally and aethstetically as the new phones. I'd bet money that you wont be able to tell the difference.

Again, your downloaded apps are stored in the market and tied to your account. If you open the market, hit the menu button, and select downloads, it will show all of the apps that you've downloaded and not uninstalled, as well as your paid apps.

So I got my replacement and you guys were right things are fine. After I updated it to 2.1 it worked great. One thing I have noticed is that the slide lock thing and clock above it are different. It is like the iphone. I don't ever remember changing it on my old phone...or maybe I did

Yeah, from 2.0.0 to 2.0.1 they changed the slide lock from circular to straight.
