I called Motorola and they told me ICS would be out by the end of january and it would include a fix for the data issues. I really don't believe it but I'm holding out hope.

I sure hope so because my girlfriend and I just got new RAZRs and this has become a huge issue, specialy for her but I sure hope they fix this soon..

I wouldn't count on ICS by end of January as comments have been overheard at CES targeting Q2 for ICS. Still there is an update that's being tested now which addresses your concerns and that update could be pushed out to the masses any day in the next few weeks.

They are supposed to release an update in mid February that is fixing the Hotspot issue. We'll see. I don't know if it's fixing anything else.

Hopefully by the end of this month...

99.999% of the time the SIM card is not the problem. The SIM is nothing more than a flash ram card that stores your authentication information. Removal and replacement of the card can have the same effect. If the card works to get service sometimes then the card is working properly ans the problem is the network.

Well seeing how the network is up right now with no problems. I would have to go with the next easiest thing. After this its fdr of that changes nothing then its the phone.

I understand what you're saying but all i'm saying is if the problem is intermittent then is highly unlikely that the SIM card is not working properly.

I spoke with tech support and they had me download a "restore connectivity settings" app from the market place, it was supposed to fix the data issues. I soon realized it didn't work. I sure hope that wasn't the fix they've been working on for weeks now because it was a waste of time for them.

Download an app as a fix? YGTBSM! I'm sorry, if they ever ask me to download an app from the Market to fix any issue with the phone's performance, I would demand a replacement. The phone should function normally with the software that it's shipped with. That is absolutely ridiculous. YMMV
