Hey gang, I'm looking for a way to quickly silent the GN. On my OG, all I had to do was swipe on the lock screen to put the phone into Silent mode. I can't seem to find a way to do it with ICS. I'm unlocking it then holding the volume button down until it goes to vibrate. Does anyone know of a way to do it quickly that I just haven't discovered yet?

One way I know us when you hit the volume down button you can then use the volume graphic as a slider and then adjust the volumes.

I've got a volume toggle widget with ring, silent and vibrate that works pretty well.

Yea, I guess I could unlock the device and use a widget or use the volume rocker to do it. But I was hoping for a means to do it while it was locked. Hopefully, ICS 4.1 will have it as an option for the lock screen (slide left for camera, slide right to unlock, slide up to silence, etc).

No need to start with the screen off. It will work the same as with the screen on. :)

This works, but if you you start from screen off and have face unlock, don't aim it at your face. If it recognizes your face, it apparently interrupts the process.

Droid OG just let you hit the power button, you can do that without removing the phone from your pocket.

Excellent tip! I forgot about this as well and was trying to figure out the quickest way to do it.
