Quick messaging

I am running AOKP 4.2 build 2. It is my first ROM and I love it. I heard about an app that will have incoming texts open in a new window over the current app that you have open. Any suggestions to which app I should use and which one runs fluidly without making the phone freeze up.

I think all of the 3rd party messaging apps are capable of this, I think even stock messaging app may be capable of this as well. Last one I had popup over open apps was Handcent and it worked, but was pretty annoying if I was playing a game.
