A friend has issues with his phone randomly restarting. Any ideas. Would rooting solve this. Any ideas r greatly appreciated

Most of the time, random shutdown are caused by buggy programs or actual bad hardware. Try removing any apps you he has installed one by one until no resets. This will probably take several days to be sure, since the shutdowns occur randomly. If that don't fix it, try a factory reset. If that doesn't work, call VZW. Good luck

Try searching the forums. I have seen three or four random reboots threads just in the past few days. Its pretty well documented around here.
