Question About the 2.2 Upgrade to the Mods and Others That may Know

May be the The Mods and others can answer this Question? I heard a rumor that if you Rooted your phone and install FroYo it will Brick your phone. Do you know if it is true or not?

Please do anyone know the answer to this? I was going to root my phone but I will not do it if the Froyo update will brick my phone after it is rooted...
