Question about notifications

I now receive notifications for email and text messages. I'd like to turn off the notifications for my email which is webmail (Comcast is my ISP) and just keep notifications for text messages. I've looked at the phone and email preferences and can't see where to turn off the notifications. Is what I want to do possible and, if so, how do I do it?

I cannot figure this out; is simply on Razr Maxx but cannot help hubby. We want the Text Notification On, but not the emails (or FB)

I also struggled with this when I got my first smartphone a few years ago. Typically, the overall notification settings are on the main settings screen (hit settings button from home screen), but to set notifications for a particular app (like email in your case), go to the settings for that app. So, for you, try opening your email, and from the main email screen, click the settings button, and see if you can find the notifications settings specific to the email account.
