Problem with verizon

So I was at Verizon yesterday and talked to a rep from there about DROID stuff... he said that gingerbread was supposed to hit the DROID x first before any other android device. I told him I already have it on my phone and he was like **** how did you get that? And I said I just have it rooted and flashed the gb leak. He then said when you trade in they will charge you because it is rooted, so I said I will just abc back to froyo and unroot. He said they will still know. I think that is false and a load of ****. Is it true? Or is a case of a Verizon nazi who believes in not modifying a phone in any way?

Apparently there was some sort of messenger cooked into the gb rom that reported to Verizon whether or not you were rooted. Just claim you never were and deny it like nobody's business.

Just an FYI....I have upgraded phones A LOT.....like seriously...a lot....with VZW and ever since my first phone with an SD card....I never sent the SD card back....also never received a charge for it or heard anything back from VZW. In fact I have never sent a phone to VZW for an upgrade. I have sent them phones for replacements but never sent SD card with it.....NEVER. But if you ask the rep on the phone they will straight out tell you, you own the phone and the SD Card....you paid for it throughout the extent of your contract. This is why you have to renew your contract to get a discounted rate.

So all that deleting files BS.....don't worry about it....simply keep the SD. Worst case senario you pay $23 fee....one rep tried to tell me this when I was experiencing issues with an SD card that wouldn't allow me to see the pic's or copy them onto a computer....couldn't read the SD card anywhere but in the phone. Rep said I would have to pay for a new one if I didn't send it back. I asked for supervisor and got the new 16G SD card sent out with my Droid 2 under the agreement that I would return the 8GB card that comes stock in the Droid 2. For those wondering about the card size I upgraded from a Droid 1 to a Droid 2 and wasn't happy about it only having a 8G card so I just swapped cards and used the 16G one from the D1....then put the 8G in the D1 and upgraded my wife to that from her previous dumb phone....I know.....bad daddy but she doesn't know the difference.

Point being I still have that SD card and didn't pay squat for it.

They don't own the phone... So they can't charge you for anything. Why would you turn in the phone when upgrading anyway? I've always kept my old phones (though they're not useful once disconnected hehe...)

Remember that they can write notes on ur account and he could have wrote that u brought in a hacked phone so in that case they will just tell u that ur warranty is no longer valid once u try to get a replacement and when ever u do get a replacement u do not have to return any of the accesories only the sole device without a battery, cover or sd. If u do send in ur cover, sd, battery or charger they will not return it or give u another one. Its a total loss
