Ports on top of the phone!!

When I first saw this I thought "WTF"! I understand that the thinness of the phone dictates this but that's pretty unconventional. After thinking about it, it makes perfect sense. When in the car I keep my phone in the cupholder so the placement works perfectly. It also works perfectly for horizontal docking too.

After seeing that the GN has the headphone jack on the bottom, I am now saying "WTF"! to that.

Yeah same for me when I first got it...then when I went to work I set it at the edge of my cubicle and run the charging cable down the back. So the way I set my phone it plugs it right at the top...perfect placement.

I actually disagree with placement for the using in the car if I am charging my phone and need to make call (and keep charging at the same time) the port on top makes that very awkward.. with regards to the nexus being on the bottom I love the charging port on the bottom and the more I think about it I think I would like the headset port there too..

Except for the fact that it's illegal in most states to use the handset while driving. That's why they make Bluetooth headsets, and in my case, the ability to connect the phone through your car stereo system.

Well its not illegal in my state (at least not that I know of) and I have a bluetooth headset and bluetooth in my car but I don't always use it. I still think the ports on the top are bad but that's my opinion

Imo ports on top were excellect choice better than on sides, phone calls while charging alot easier

Love my car dock returned otterbox.. Just to keep it... Using glossy silicone, case but I may just go naked since its so sexy caseless

Care to elaborate on why you think so? IMO, The ports are spread out enough that the HDMI and usb cables I have can be plugged in together and i'd rather have them together as it looks cleaner and is easier to manage the cables instead of coming out at different angles/locations like on other phones. Also i think they did that for the docking accessories. Maybe you know something i don't, though, so i'm interested to hear it.

I agree. I have no clue why it's a fail. Maybe not a preference but definitely not a fail.

I agree much better then the side ive used both and had to take a call..i like it also works good in an izel dock while charging

I just tried out the hdmi watching a movie and had to plug in the charger & it really does make it neat & clean...no cables from all angles. 1+ for great design at least for me.
