Let me put it this way. Full disclosure I am a 20 year Trial Attorney.

Motorola and Verizon originally slated the Bionic for early 2011 and delayed it due to problems.

Then they announced it 6-8 weeks ago and said it was the machine to rule all machines, it was the flagship phone, etc..

I had patiently been waiting to upgrade my OG Droid for months waiting for the release of the Bionic. I suffered with a phone that was barely keeping a charge and where I had to have it in a charger nearly all the time. But I knew I would be getting the best so I waited.

Logically in the 6-8 months of delay for the Bionic I had assumed they were making it the best device they could. The thinnest, the fastest, the best screen, the best camera, the best body, etc...

Then I got it. I was very happy with it however it was a mystery to me why it had so many problems after 6-8 months of refinement. It's very clear to me NOW that there hadn't been that much refinement because Motorola was working on the RAZR.

The Bionic creaks because it has a cheap plastic back. I had to put electrical tape on the inside back to stop it. Even my old Droid had a steel back.

6 weeks later out comes a phone that has a Kevlar back and is being advertised as basically waterproof and almost impossible to break. Why wasn't this on the Bionic?

The camera software in the Bionic was programmed by a monkey. No I'm not saying the person who programmed it was as intelligent as a monkey I'm saying I think you had an actual monkey do it.

6 weeks later the RAZR is boasting of it's camera improvements.

You gave us a Pentile screen when it is now obvious you could have given us the same screen as the RAZR.

We cannot move things to the external SD card using your own software because it moves it to the media area just to vanish. There is NO WAY if this was tested someone wouldn't have caught it.

You add software like Social Location that's worse than any malware anyone can put on a phone.

Clearly the Bionic was the ugly stepchild. I could go on and on with my list. Why doesn't the 3g/4g radio go off when wi-fi is on?

So today we learn that not only could you build a more powerful phone but you could do it and make it the smallest thinest most durable phone that exists. And to our shock and suprise you were able to put a faster dual processer in it and still have 4g LTE and all of the goodies and more that the Bionic has.

THE BIONIC SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN RELEASED. Clearly you already had a phone READY to be sold that was better. This is not a case where you didn't know you were about to release a better phone - clearly you had finished the RAZR when you released the Bionic.

This is deception, fraud, blah blah blah.

No, I'm not suing anyone. However out of all the Bionics you sold you do have a group of people like me who are smart phone enthusiasts who are upset and should get to exchange their hardware if they wish after the RAZR comes out.

Look at it this way - you can exchange 100 or 1000 of them or someone out there may file a class action and you will have a much bigger problem. Once again I'm not filing anything - I'm not that type of attorney nor would I sue over a phone.

My recommendation would be to exchange the phone and the hardware that was bought with it for those who ask. Put a time limit on it of a month after the RAZR is released. That way you satisfy your customers and get rid of any future liability you may have.

But can you honestly say that you didn't know that we'd be pissed off when you released the RAZR 6 weeks after the Bionic? It's not like it was another company - you KNEW

After reading this post, I hope that you really aren't a 20 year trial lawyer. If so I feel sorry for your clients. And if you really are a trial lawyer, I'm sure you know what libel is and your post is full of it.

A class action suit over this would be hilarious

TL - DR.

From the small bit I skimmed over it seems like it's nothing more than a case of buyers remorse.
One must learn in this technology age that ANY device we purchase will be quickly replaced in the market by the next "Latest and Greatest".

Be happy with your decision to buy.. and be happy with the purchase you make.

Normally it's not the same manufacturer, within a 6 week timespan. That's the difference in this case.

It doesn't matter much to me though. After next month, all will be well for me. I'll have the Nexus in hand and my Bionic will be with a new owner.

And that will be the end of my tenure with Moto products.

What a ridiculous "argument" .. I would not hire you as an attorney lol.

No one forced you to buy the Bionic. In fact, rumors about the RAZR existed prior to the Bionic's release. You should have waited.

Buyer beware.

I completely agree. I've told him the same thing on that thread on Moto's website. No one forced you into buying the BIONIC.

Hate to break the bad news to you, we're at the 6 week mark right now since the release of Bionic.
RAZR will be on the streets 2 months after the launch of Bionic.. pretty similar to the D3 being 2 months prior to Bionic.. the X2 being just shy of 2 months prior to D3... and on and on it goes.

This is the cycle. Get used to it.
2 months after you get your beloved Nexus/Prime/Whateverthehellitscalledtoday you'll be moaning about the next great thing.

Actually, Nexus devices are the only ones that come once a year :)

The difference in what?

Look at cars. When a new car model is coming out, dealers will still push the old one with full knowledge a better product might be out in a few weeks.

Ive seen a bunch of people in brand new 2010 Mustangs with the 305hp engine. I think to myself, "Wow, they shoulda waited for the 2011 with 400+hp"
If they didnt know about the 400hp version, it wasnt the dealer's job to inform them that it was coming out soon. Their only goal is to sell cars. Likewise, Moto doesnt have to reveal their entire product map to you.
It sucks that the RAZR is coming out so soon after the Bionic, but Moto is in no way responsible for giving you a new device. The only thing you can do is vote with your pocketbook and buy another product.

kinda sucks, no doubt. i was all onboard for the bionic, been waiting to upgrade for close to a year. bionic got delayed, but my o.g droid was still nice (after reading about bionic bugs)...nobody has to upgrade the minute their contract is up.

now i'm torn because i love removable media storage and the prime i want has none. but i dig ics, that the razr lacks. should i wait for the next phone...? the waiting is killing me. i think i'm going with galaxy nexus.

good luck folks.

Lol. Anyone who has any inkling into how the world of business is conducted knows it is literally impossible for something like this to happen. It's not like a recall. You can't just exchange. Ridiculous someone would even waste their time writing up something like this. Must've been a joke...

Also I LOVE my Bionic and I'm sick of all the fourm troll hate. Just cause you can't deal with a few bugs for a month or two (which are almost inevitable on ANY phone, why can't people accept this??) doesn't mean a phone is a worthless disappointment blah blah blah. As soon as the firmware update comes, which the Verizon rep physically told me would be in November, this phone will be infinitely better than it already was. That's not even including what ICS will bring. Hey, good for you if you didn't want it, but get off my back for thinking my phone is the shiz! Kthxbye

You bionic owners and everybody else saw this coming a mile away. We knew the bionic will be a flagship phone for about a month but waited 9 months for it. I hate to say it, but I told you so! The phone with a locked down bootloader won't keep up with the quad cores that will be arriving the 1st quarter of '12. and the qHD display is already a thing of the past. If you wanted a phone that will last the two years til your next upgrade, you should have never got the bionic, rather waited a couple months longer for the Nexus.

You told everyone what? Not get a dual core 4g phone? Yeah because that's a terrible idea! Anyway you try and hash it out the Bionic is still a good phone. It would last anyone a year/two year upgrade until they get something else. Granted the Nexus looks killer and still might be something that I get off contract, but I would rather have the Bionic over the Razr, at least I can take the battery out!

But anyway I am thrilled you have the gift of foresight, any other great pearls of wisdom you would like to share with us less fortunate?

That explains a lot.

Imagine that, a company says their new product is the best.

And it never occurred to you to buy a battery?

Then I got it. I was very happy with it however it was a mystery to me why it had so many problems after 6-8 months of refinement.

Yeah, because nothing screems quality like being behind schedule.

It's very clear to me NOW that there hadn't been that much refinement because Motorola was working on the RAZR.

News flash, they're always working on the next big thing.

List of complaints deleted

And yet you didn't return it. You obviously thought it was worth what you paid. The release of the RAZR doesn't change the quality or usefulness of your Bionic one bit.

Alright guys please remember to keep things civil.

Unfortunately all phones are old by the time they hit the market. Companies are working on multiple devices at the same time in different phases of the product life cycle. It happens. We all knew the bionic was held about about 6 months which will of course run into other product debuts.
