Hello I recently purchased a DROID RAZR MAXX from ebay when I received the item there was a pin code, I put my sim card in and the pin code is still there? How do I reset the phone what do I do

This may be the SIM Pin. If so, the default pin is 1111. Give that a try.

As a final potential solution and since this is essentially a brand new phone to you, you don't care if the previous user's data is lost and in fact I would suggest this anyway. Try a full factory reset from Boot Mode Selection Menu.

1. Power the device off.
   
   
   Press the Power button then select Power off.
   
   
   If the device doesn't respond to input, press and hold the Volume Up / Down then press and hold Power button. When the device screen goes blank release the Power button while continuing to hold Volume Up / Down, proceed with step 3.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up / Down then press the Power button.
3. When presented with the Boot Mode Selection Menu release all buttons.
4. Press Volume Down to select Recovery then press Volume Up.
5. From the Droid triage screen, simultaneously press Volume Up / Down.
6. Select wipe data / factory reset then press the Power button.
   
   
   Use Volume keys to navigate options.
7. Select Yes -- delete all user data then press the Power button.
   
   
   Use Volume keys to navigate options.
   
   
   Data wipe may take several moments.
8. Select reboot system now then press the Power button.
   
   
   Use Volume keys to navigate options.
9. Refer to Initial Activation and Setup.

You can also get a Sim card for free from any Verizon store. I would recommend this bc if a Sim card had previously been used but deactivated for more than 24 hours, Verizon will automatically make the card unusable.

I agree, but the way I read it, he said he put "my" sim card in. I took that to mean his own card, not one he received with the phone that was owned by the previous owner. You may be spot on and I may simply have misinterpreted the information. The bottom line is, if he can do a full factory restore, he's better off anyway. Then he can install the new sim card (or his existing one if he has one), and he'll be Good to Go.

OK, so you are in AP Fastboot mode. Great. Only concern now is that if you leave the phone on, the battery will run down. I suggest you power off for now. You will be able to get back to where you are now again later. Once powered down, plug the charger cord in and leave it in until we're ready to flash the Fastboot file.

Now go to HERE (Free Cloud Storage - MediaFire) and download the file. Be forewarned, it's HUGE and may take 1/2 hour or longer.

Once you've completed download of that file, unzip it into a folder on your desktop. Next, go to the proper link below (Windows 32 bit or 64 bit), and download and install the correct driver for your OS.


Motorola Drivers (If its not working install this.)

Once you've completed installing the correct driver, go into the folder for the file you unzipped above and double-click on the DroidRAZRUtility.bat file.

A window will open up and it will have a Yellow Batman logo. Press any key to continue.

Now you'll have a light blue numbered list of options. NOW, put the phone back into Fastboot mode like you did earlier, and then plug the USB cable into the computer and then into the phone.

Last, press "1", and hit enter. Let it do its thing.

Once done, you should have a fully restored RAZR, which should also be unlocked.

Well, at this point, he's got nothing to lose. If the Fastboot doesn't unlock the phone, there's nothing else that can be done. I am banking on the Fastboot putting the phone back to stock and then it will go through the normal activation process.

The phone will be no worse off than it is, and there's the possibility that it fixes it. Unless someone else has any other suggestions, I say, roll with it. At this point, he's got 3 moderators and the Administrator working to solve this. Let's put our heads together and see what works. Does anyone disagree with me in that doing a Fastboot has no downside and possible upside that it fixes the phone?

Well I know it's not nearly as much fun, but unless the OP is enjoying it, why not just contact Verizon and have them do a factory reset? All the data would be lost but, as you point out, who cares?
