PLEASE HELP! Factory Reset won't work, on white screen that says htc incredible

so i just rooted my phone, backed it up and everything, and just installed the gingerbread rom. i decided i wanted to go back to 2.2, but stupid me, factory reset it. Im now stuck on the white screen that says htc incredible for a long time.the only way to get out of it is to take the battery out. i tried using hboot and do reboot but same thing happens. does anyone have a solution? please help.
