playing mp3, wma

I recently purchased a razr m and am trying to set up a mp3 file for a ringtone. However, my phone says it cannot play the mp3 file...I was under the impression that it could. Any ideas? It also does not show the mp3 or wma file in the music player app on the phone

My ringtone is an mp3 music file, LowRider by War.

Settings>Sounds>Ringtones>Media Storage>Lowrider.mp3.

Full song, not a clip.

Works for me.

Do you know how to switch a .wav file to an mp3? It will not transfer to sounds or any storage available.
