Places Directory vs Places?

What's the diff between the Places Directory app and the Places function within GoogleMaps?

Same thing? Same results??

Like the Navigation icon, it's a direct shortcut to the function.

they look totally different...i think directory has more built in options, but you can add anything to the new one.
