Phone won't stop talking to me!!!

So i got my Razr HD about a week ago, and its my first smartphone, so this may seem like a stupid question. But whenever i get an email or something, my phone decides to read the email back to me, and its doing the same thing for websites too. How do I make this stop? Its driving me nuts
