Attempting a pros vs cons poll. We'll see how it goes...

Alltel(ATNI) customers will soon have the option for the DX. I've been comparing accessories for it and I wondered how a pros vs cons poll for cases would work, so I decided to make one.

I assume this would be the most helpful if actual defender users answered the poll, but i guess the opinions of others might be informative as well.

I just realized for anyone to see the results, they have to vote. So I guess the results will show the opinions of anyone interested in seeing the results? EDIT: I was wrong, there is a "View Poll Results" link without voting.

I also just realized I left out a Con for those who do not like the built-in screen protector. It allows for a maximum of 20 poll options and I don't think you can edit the poll once it's created.

Pros:
well protected
built in screen protector
2-layer case
ports covered

Cons:
rubber outer - hard to carry in pocket and get it out quick
bulky
takes a while to get it off if u have to do a battery pull

but i think its worth it. my DX literally was thrown across the kitchen (among other drops) and it still works fine. its cheap on amazon.

also, i left on my steinheil screen protector (dont always carry it in it) and i dont have any problems with 2 on

Bulk is probably the only drawback unless you use an extended battery that doesn't fit in the original back.
Bombproof protection would be my biggest plus to write.
I have one on my Omnia and use it in water, snow, mud, at the beach, etc.
The real question is if the bulk is worth the protection, for me it was an easy choice.

Yeah, it looks like a pros vs cons poll might not be a good idea afterall.

I have read many posts on several sites on Otterbox, Seidio, and Trident cases. I was just trying to figure out a way to neatly quantify users' opinions so that others could see a lot of useful information in one place.

lol, I know it sounds funny.

I read a couple of posts where some people actually like the added bulkiness of the rugged cases over the slim naked DX. Said it felt better in their hands.

Check out the otterbox commuter for droid x too. Best case I've ever bought. And not bulky.

I would say bulk is always a con. The commuter is the right size otter box case I think. The defender is ideal for fire/police/extreme sports and that sort of thing when the device WILL fly.
