OTG Support Question

Hi Android Buddies,
A friend of mine has a Nexus 5 and researching online I found that the phone doesn´t support OTG and that you would need the Nexus Media Importer to get OTG working, but I hope not. Most Samsung devices (and many others) support OTG w/out any further software. ...but perhaps in the name of slimness Google leaves it out (but then, why charge for NMI????) Where would you get this Nexus Media Importer and how would you install it? Thanks in advance!

What about Nexus Media Importer ? Will that activate the OTG?
