Open Maps from Google Map Link in Email or Text

I don't seem to be able to click on a link from google maps in an email or text and have it open up the location in Maps on my Droid.

Any helpful ideas?

I am thinking of making an app that would turn addresses in txt messages to a clickable link that would load it into Google Maps. Is this a good idea or not?

There is already a free app called "txt2map" that kind of does this but in a different way. Is there still a need for a new app to get this done?
