If your phone's like my RAZR MAXX there should be a USB icon in your notification bar...you need to open up your notifications and tap on that to bring up a menu that will let you switch modes.

It only has charge only and media device as options

I think with the jellybean update that went away. Sorry if I'm wrong.. I have not had that phone in a while..

I think your right ...the only thing is I can't transfer large files to or from the phone.. I don't get it. Use to work fine then after the update nada
