Notification tone is not going off pleazzz help.

I am on a rooted droid 3, and everytime I get a text message my notification tone does not go off I'm using handset sms as my messenger. I have checked my settings and the notification sound is all the way up so I don't know it's going on. is it handset sms or my root I'm not really sure. my root method was 1 click root for droid 3.

Have you checked the settings within the messaging app itself???

Yeah sorry forgot to mention that I did check the messenger settings and this notification is up
