Notification bubble on icons on homepage

How do I get the small notification bubble on my homescreen icons? (Droid 4) For example, on my email/text/calls it would have a small pop out/bubble with the number missed.
My husband's Commando came with this on it, no extra widgets or apps were downloaded.

I tried Handcent and Go Launcher but they just gave me too much other "stuff". I just want the little red number bubble on the standard icons.

Most likely this is a feature built into the Commando's version of Android OS. As far as I know, my RAZR does not have a feature like this.

I have Handcent and it lets you have a shortcut on your home screen with the unread message counter. Don't think there is a way to do this without a custom app/widget.

Have not seen this on a Droid X or Droid 4 so as someone else said it may be part of the Commando's customized version of Android.
