no sound for txt and email, have searched forum and tried all

Hi. I cannot get a tone to play to alert me for anything except an incoming call. I have checked and double checked all my settings, done a battery pull and looked into every menu system I could find based on my search results here for the same problem.
Does anyone have some insight into a submenu item that may not be obvious. Thank you.

Do you hear a notification tone when you select one from the main sound settings?
Of course the volume for notification is up?
Also each app of course has notification settings usually (specifically messaging and email).
I think there is a notification toggle in the notification pane in some carrier versions, check for that.
Maybe screen shot your sound settings and your app notification settings so we can see.

I take it you have gone to Settings/Sound/Volumes and increased the settings there?

Found the answer and boy do I feel silly.
Unlike my old Droid phone, on the Galaxy you have to "back" out of the screen after adjusting the settings. That will save them.
Works fine now, DUH. LOL on me.
